Millennium Charter Academys MPACT will host its second annual Pride Ride April 25.
Registration for the event will begin at the school at 9 a.m. with the ride starting around 11 a.m. The ride will take participants on a 92-mile trek through Surry County and into the lower portion of Virginia before returning to the school. It will be led by members of Firehouse Ministries.
Its a beautiful rural route that takes you all over Surry County through Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy and into the edge of Virginia, said Von McCoy, member of the MPACT.
After completing the ride, there will be hot dogs and drinks for the riders at the school as well as door prizes and a 50/50 drawing while the judges tally the results. For the poker run, first prize will be $250, second prize will be $150 and third prize will be $100.
All of the proceeds raised at the event will go to Millennium Charter Academy.
MPACT, which stands for Millennium Parents And Concerned Teachers, is an organization at the school which raises money to buy books, equipment and other supplies.
