Sales totaled 479 head, including cattle (447), goats (20) and sheep (12) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $48-$58; cutter and boning, $42.50-$58; canner and low cutter, $33-$51.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $58-$61.50; 1,500 pounds and up, $66-$68.50.
– Stock cows: 875-1,050 pounds, (S1) $210-$355; 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $450-$620.
– Cow/calf pairs: too few.
– Baby calves: $17.50-$50.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $103-$118, (small frame) $90-$101; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $90-$109, (small frame) $70-$85; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $80-$94, (small frame) $65-$79; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $77.50-$86, (small frame) $65-$75.50; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $69-$83.50.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $80-$93, (small frame) $70-$77; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $78-$87, (small frame) $69-$76; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $79-$83.25; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $73-$78; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $73.50.
– Goats: (kids) $10; (others) $27-$95; (large billy) $50-$80.
