CANA, Va. Mrs. Zula Marie Leonard Dawson, 85, of 268 Woodcreek Drive, Cana, widow of Mr. Cecil Edgar Dawson, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Dawson was born April 13, 1924, in Carroll County to the late Joseph Henry and Mollie Elizabeth McCraw Dawson. She was retired from Spencers Inc. and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanette D. Funk of Cana; a son, James Cecil Dawson of Cana; four grandchildren and spouses, Emily and Jim Smithson of Chesapeake, Staff Sgt. Jeff Dawson of Ft. Jackson, S.C., Michael and Amy Ramey of King, N.C., and Nathan and Lindsey Ramey of Pembroke; stepgrandchildren, Lindsay Funk of Galax and Chad and Jenifer Funk of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Quesinberry and Ules Hutchens; and a brother, Joseph H. Leonard. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Buster Sechrist and the Rev. Gary Easter. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
