Sales totaled 865 head, including cattle (843), goats (21) and hogs (1) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $45-$50; cutter and boning, $45-$55.50; canner and low cutter, $34-$42.50.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,500 pounds and up, $55-$64.50.
– Stock cows: 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $500-$620.
– Cow/calf pairs: too few.
– Baby calves: $47.50-$62.50.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 200-300 pounds, (M1) $102-$116, (small frame) $80-$99; 300-400 pounds, (M1) $98.50-$115, (small frame) $70-$100, (Holsteins) $52-$70; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $89-$103, (small frame) $74-$95, (Holsteins) $65.50-$69.50; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $87-$98.50, (small frame) $65-$89, (Holsteins) $60.50-$69.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $83.50-$93, (small frame) $63-$80, (Holsteins) $53.50-$57; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $72-$86.25.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $79.50-$83, (small frame) $69-$79.50; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $77-$86, (small frame) $57-$77; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $72.50-$79, (small frame) $60-$74.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $70-$74.50, (small frame) $60-$72; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $68.50-$75.75.
