CANA, Va. Mrs. Bonnie Sue McMillian Jones, 64, of Cana, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on April 5, 1945, in Carroll County to the late Robert Loman and Bertie Mazie Jones McMillian. Mrs. Jones retired from Cross Creek Apparel after 25 years of service. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a homemaker. Mrs. Jones was a member of Pauls Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and was a friend to everyone. She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Melvin Jones of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Christopher Jones of Cana; one grandson, Brandon Jacob Davis of Cana; a stepgrandson, Cody Lee Jones; one great-grandson, Ethan Jacob Davis; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Blanche Murphy of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Beatrice Mitchell of Cana, Barbara Hall of Cana, Betty and William Tate of Mount Airy and Belinda and Ray McMillian of Cana; one sister-in-law, Barbara McMillian of Rural Hall, N.C.; and a special uncle and aunt, Buster and Mary Lee Jones of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Foy Ray McMillian; and four infant brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev. Daryl Tate officiating, with burial to follow in Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Any food donations should be taken to Pauls Creek Baptist Church on Thursday immediately following the service for the family and friends. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Joan and Howard Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
