Staff Report

The East Surry boys tennis match Friday against Elkin played out in a similar fashion to the first. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, that meant an 8-1 loss.
Just like the first matchup, Tanner Simmons provided the lone victory for East Surry (0-7, 0-7 Northwest 1-A).
It was windy and Tanner did a good job of keeping the ball in play, East Surry coach John Martin said. Hes been playing well the past couple matches.
Simmons was bumped up to No. 1 singles Friday. The last time East Surry faced the Buckin Elks, Simmons was the in the No. 2 position.
East Surry returns to action Monday when it hosts Bishop McGuinness at 4 p.m.
