– A Pilot Mountain man was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting an officer and other charges, according to the Mount Airy Police Department.
Gregory Justin Pike, 21, of 523 Pat Irwin Road, allegedly became combative Sunday afternoon when officers were investigating a suspicious person at Northern Hospital of Surry County, police records show. Pike subsequently was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer; resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer; and being drunk and disruptive. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and is to appear in court on Oct. 19.
– John William Lewis, 46, of 207 White Pines Country Club Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon late Sunday after allegedly becoming involved in an altercation with an acquaintance at 341 Franklin St. Lewis is accused of using a razor knife to cut Larry Wayne Wilson of that address across the chest, causing minor injuries. Lewis was jailed under a $2,000 secured bond and is to be in Surry District Court on Nov. 30.
– Property damage was reported Saturday at the West Pine Street residence of Daryl Taylor Mabe, where someone broke a mirror glass and the lens cover for the speedometer on Mabes 2009 Yamaha scooter. Total damage was estimated at $300.
– It was reported Friday that an unknown individual had used counterfeit $100 bills to buy items at JC Penney in Mayberry Mall. The loss totaled $500, with the case still under investigation.
