North Surry came up six strokes short of MVC 2-A Conference leader Wilkes Central Tuesday in a rainy conference golf match at Mount Airy Country Club.
Wilkes Central set the pace for the seven team field, finishing with a 159, just ahead of the Greyhounds with a 165.
Forbush (168) took home third in front of Ashe County (175) and Surry Central (177).
Wilkes Central picked up the top score of the day from Zach Joines, who finished at 36, one stroke ahead of Ashe Countys Trey Scotts 37 and two ahead of North Surrys Taylor Coalson (38).
North Surrys Justin Young and Carson Ramey finished just out of medal contention with 40 apiece, while Dylan Carter led Surry Central with a 41.
Dustin Utt finished at 47 for the Greyhounds while Seth Thomas (42), Caleb Thomas (46) and Ryan High (48) finished out the scoring for the Golden Eagles.
After Tuesdays match, North Surry is five strokes behind Wilkes Central heading into the hectic final stretch of the season.
With two matches rained out last week, teams will be forced to play four matches in the next week (weather permitting), beginning with a conference match hosted by Starmount Thursday at Silo Run.
