THOMASVILLE Mr. Woodrow Woody/Papa Bowman, 71, of Thomasville, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at Hospice Home of High Point. Born Jan. 19, 1938, in Ararat, Va., he was the son of the late William R. Bowman and Delma Goins Bowman. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kelvin Blake Bowman; and three brothers, John Lewis Bowman, Arthur Bowman and Arliss Bowman. Mr. Bowman was of the Baptist faith and the owner of Woodys Elbow Room. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed baseball and NASCAR racing. Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean Nannie Bowman of the home; children, Cheray Hensley and husband Ray and Jeff Bowman and wife Brenda, all of Cana, Va., Lisa Fowler and husband Mike of Lexington and Danna Baity and husband Daniel of Trinity; three brothers, William Brother Bill Bowman and wife Cellie of High Point and Glenn Bowman and wife Loraine and Richard Bowman and wife Barbara, both of Ararat; one sister, Ann Maines and husband David of Mount Airy; and six grandchildren, Tinsel Bowman, Brendin Baity, Makenzie Baity, Haleigh Baity, Reagan Fowler, Dougie Fowler, and one on the way. Graveside will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville with Pastor Henry King officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funerals Service in Archdale, and other times at the Country House, 3613 Meadow Dale Lane, Trinity, NC 27370.
