Greyhounds outpace Vikings

HAYS Four players scored in double figures for North Surry as the Greyhounds cruised to a 77-28 road victory against North Wilkes in a Mountain Valley 2-A Conference matchup Friday night.
North Surrys Morgan Midkiff led all scorers with 14 points. She also had five assists.
Also for North (12-3 overall, 6-1 in conference), Morgan Bunker tossed in 13 points, Lindsey Payne added 12 points and Kara Hodges had 10 points and four assists. Emily Culler dished out six assists and Samantha Simpson grabbed seven rebounds in a well-balanced effort for the visitors.
The Greyhounds rolled out to a 26-8 lead after the first quarter of play. They built a 43-10 lead at the half with a 17-2 advantage during the second quarter.
We shot the ball really well, North Surry coach Shane Slate said. We had 32 field goals, and we did a good job in the halfcourt. In the first half, we forced some turnovers and that helped us get some easy baskets.
Lea Waller led North Wilkes with 10 points.
