The streets of Mount Airy will be closed Friday morning when the Downtown Business Association (DBA) holds a pancake breakfast as part of the Harley Owners Group Rally.
The pancake breakfast will take place from 6 to 10 a.m. in the middle of downtown on Main Street. The cost is $6 per person. The DBA is sponsoring the event, but all proceeds will go to the Masons for their childrens home in Oxford.
As part of the event motorcycles from the HOG Rally will be lining both sides of Main Street, showcasing their bikes to the public.
Its an opportunity for bikers to show their bikes, like a car show, explained Brandt Scholz of the DBA.
Scholz said the streets will be closed from Independence Boulevard through downtown to facilitate the event. The streets will reopen at 10 a.m.
Those wanting to see motorcycles downtown can also attend the HOG Rally parade on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Jean Collins, organizer of the rally, said only HOG members will be allowed to cruise in the parade. She expects to have around 1,000 motorcycles in the event. The parade will be preceded by an opening ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park at 6 p.m. The police-escorted parade will then take a route through downtown.
