Benefits and Fundraisers
The Albion Community Church will be having a yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the maintenance and repair fund for the church and cemetery. For more information, call Doug Robbins at 351-5663 or Linda Atkins at 352-3248.
On Saturday, Salem United Methodist Church will be having a big country breakfast with country ham, sausage, bacon, gravy, grits, eggs, biscuits, apples, homemade apple butter and sourwood honey. Breakfast is $6. There will also be a bake sale, crafts and a yard sale. Breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m., and the bazaar will be held until 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the church UMW.
The sixth annual golf tournament, sponsored by the Wesleyan Men of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Skyland Lakes Golf Course. The cost is $50 per person and participants must sign up by Sept. 26. The format is Captains Choice. Mulligans are $5 each and teams are limited to four players. First-place team wins $200; second place wins $120; and third place wins $80. All proceeds go to projects and needs in the church and community. For more information, call Don Shelton at 789-4629.
Welcome Baptist Church will be having bazaar from 7 a.m. until on Saturday. Breakfast will be served with homemade biscuits. For lunch, there will be hot dogs or pintos beans, onions, cornbread and dessert. There will also be a yard sale, crafts, bake sale and homemade canned items.
Grace Moravian Church Womens Fellowship will be having a spaghetti supper on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $6 per plate and $3 for children.
Antioch Baptist Church will have BBQ on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Plates are $7, sandwiches are $3.50 and BBQ by the pound is $8. Carry-outs are available. Proceeds will help to support local missions.
Ivy Green Baptist Church is having a bake sale on Fredrick Street in the Pine State parking lot from 9 a.m. until on Oct. 9. Proceeds will be used for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry. For more information, call 320-2971.
Surry Friends of Youth, 1151 W. Lebanon St., will have a benefit yard sale on Oct. 10 from 7 a.m. to noon. Proceeds go to support the youth of Surry County.

Westfield Friends Church, 3161 Old Westfield Road, will hold a bazaar on Oct. 17 from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be breakfast, crafts, produce, baked goods, canned goods, clothing, a yard sale, cookbooks, attic treasures and a quilt raffle. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new roof.
Mallalieu-Jones United Methodist Church, 231 N. South St., Mount Airy, will be holding a fish-fry fundraiser every Friday. The cost is $4 for a fish sandwich and a drink.
Grace Moravian Church will be holding a worldwide communion on Sunday during the 10 a.m. worship service.
Flat Rock Baptist Church will be having homecoming on Sunday. Worship services will be at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with no Sunday school. The Rev. Frank Hensley will be the guest speaker. Special music will be performed. Everyone is invited. Bring a well-filled basket and join the covered-dish lunch immediately after the 10:30 a.m. service.
Victory Baptist Church, 2120 Riverside Drive, will be having a homecoming service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday with singing by the Blesdoes. A love offering will be taken up.
Woodville Baptist Church will be having its 96th homecoming on Sunday. Sunday school will start at 10 a.m. and the worship service will begin at 11 a.m. Dinner will follow the service. The guest speaker will be Dale Riddle. Dale and Glenda Riddle will be the guest singers. All are welcome.

Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, 2063 S. Main St., will celebrate homecoming Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. David Goins of Mount Airy will perform a special singing and the Rev. Mt. Bethel Moravian Church, 127 Mt. Bethel Road, Cana, Va., will be having revival Sunday through Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Pleasant View Baptist Church, 154 Mount View Drive, Mount Airy, will be having revival held on Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. with different guest speakers and singers each night. Everyone is welcome to attend revival and Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Bible study is held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
Friendly Chapel Church, Pilot Mountain, will have homecoming on Sunday. The morning service will be held at 11 a.m. and lunch will be at 1 p.m. The Easter Brothers will be singing at 7 p.m. with Bro. Russell Easter preaching. Revival services will be held Monday through Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with Bro. Mike Molcomb of Bryson City preaching.
Oak Grove United Methodist Church will be having homecoming on Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. featuring the Rev. Hal Finney. Dinner will be served after the service.
Asbury Presbyterian Church is having homecoming on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon with lunch in the fellowship hall after the service. Revival will be Oct. 11-13 with special music and speakers.
Liberty Baptist Church, Lowgap, will have revival Oct. 12-16. The guest minister will be the Rev. Jason Nunley. A meeting will be held in the prayer room at 7:15 p.m., the service will start at 7:30 p.m. and a special choir singing will be performed nightly. Everyone is welcome.

The ninth annual gospel singing and BBQ will be held Saturday at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Mountain Park. Serving will start at noon and the singing will start at 6 p.m. and feature The Christianairs and Double Over Time Bluegrass Gospel. Bring a lawn chair. The First Baptist Church Feeding Friends Soup Kitchen provides a free hot meal to families and friends in need every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is between Elm and Galloway streets at 714 N. Main St. Parking is available behind First Baptist off Arch Street. The feeding friends dinner is served in the fellowship hall in the building closest to downtown, with signs available to guide visitors.
A free soup kitchen is available on the last Thursday of each month in the Piney Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come as they are with no strings attached. The church is at 278 Piney Grove Road, which can be reached at 356-4196.
Food assistance for the hungry in the community is provided each Thursday at 8:30 a.m. by Trinity Episcopal Church.
Meetings for those healing from a broken marriage, each Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Genesis Full Gospel Church on Sparger Road. Everyone is invited, with more information available at 351-4718.

The station will be devoted to old time gospel preaching from the King James 1611 Bible and traditional gospel singing 24 hours a day.
