– An investigation into possible drug activity at a local car wash led to violations being filed against three men during the weekend, according to the Mount Airy Police Department.
Charged in the Saturday afternoon incident at the car wash on N.C. 89 near Beasley Street were Jacob Levi Burchette, 20, of 1547 Siloam Road, with felonious possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; Jamie Ray Gammons, 27, of 441 Crotts Road, with felonious possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and two misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Sean Christopher Creed, 20, of 524 Old Creed Road, with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Burchette and Gammons were jailed in lieu of $5,000 secured bonds and Creed under a $1,000 unsecured bond. All three people are scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on June 1.
– Bobbie Jo York, 32, of 594 Troy Hill Road, Hamptonville, was charged Friday with two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by forgery. York is accused of presenting an altered prescription for oxycodone at Walgreens on Rockford Street and Kerr Drug on Independence Boulevard on Wednesday. She was released under a $2,500 unsecured bond and is to be in Surry District Court on July 30.
– Kelly Hutson Barbour, 34, of 819 Lakeview Drive, Dobson, was charged with driving while impaired early Saturday after police investigated a collision. Barbour was arrested in the parking lot of B-52s bar and grill on North Andy Griffith Parkway. She was released on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on July 23.
