The Surry Community College baseball team broke out of a recent slump Tuesday, picking up a pair of victories against visiting Patrick-Henry.
With the wins the Knights improved to 15-17 overall on the year.
Surry Coach Jamie Lowe said he felt the Knights wins were good for his team.
We hit the ball well, over the past couple of games we have played teams that have been nationally ranked, so its good for us to pick up these wins, Lowe said.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Surry picked up a 5-2 win. Andre Nicholas, Brad Bridgemen and Tommy Wright all finished the first game two-for-four to led the Knights in the victory.
In game number two, the Knights squeezed out a narrow 2-1 win. With Patrick-Henry leading 1-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Surry put a squeeze play on in back-to-back at-bats to score the game winning runs.
Lowe credited his teams execution in a pressure situation as the key to the win in game two.
We were in a critical situation, and our execution was perfect and it got us the win, he said.
Matt Adams finished two-for-four for the Knights while Jordan Graham went two-for-two to lead the Knights in the game two win.
Surry returns to action this weekend as they travel to take on Louisburg.
