DOBSON The Surry County Community College softball team went 3-1 over the weekend, including a pair of wins Sunday that combined to produce 27 runs.
In Sundays first game, Dawn Sisk fired a one-hitter over four innings and the Knights smacked 13 hits to defeat New River C.C. (Dublin, Va.). Sisk helped her cause with a a double, while Mallorie Vogler, Megan Stanley, Hannah Bullins and Stacy Eldridge had two hits apiece. In the second game, Shawn Watson combined with Bullins on a three-hitter spread over five innings. The Knights won that game, 10-0.
New River is playing its inaugural season and trying to establish itself.
Basically, it was a non-conference game, Surry coach Amber Reid said. It was an opportunity for us to work on some things that maybe we need to be a little sharper on. We got to see some versatility in our pitching. Dawn Sisk and Hannah havent pitched much in our season yet.
On Saturday, the Knights (5-7, 1-5) split with host Louisburg in a Region X double header, winning 7-1 the first game and losing by the same score in the second game.
Surry hosts Louisburg next weekend beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, although the games will not count against eithers Region X records.
