A construction project in Surry County was approved by the state Board of Transportation during a meeting last week.
Smith-Rowe Inc., a Mount Airy company, was awarded a contract to replace a bridge over Pauls Creek on Miller Road, also known as State Route 1625. The site is northwest of the city limits.
The contract amount is $678,044.
Work is to begin between Feb. 2 and May 15 and be completed within 150 days of the start date.
Also last week, the Transportation Board awarded contracts for two other bridge projects totaling about $2 million, both in Ashe County.
