PILOT MOUNTAIN Mrs. Grace Martin Marion, 75, widow of the late John Frank Marion, of Pilot Mountain, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 23, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Marion was born in Stokes County on Dec. 26, 1933, to the late Elisha Patterson and Emma Taylor Pell Martin. Grace was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She worked at Hanes Hosiery and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Marion is survived by three loving children, Ricky (Marcy) Marion of Mount Airy, Sheree Dee (Gary) Cummings of Elkin and Crystal Dawn (David) Collins of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Dusty Creed and Myles and Ivy Marion; two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Katlyn Creed; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth (Betty) Martin, Mike Martin, Gary (Pat) Martin and Jr. (Patricia) Martin all of Mount Airy; and two sisters, Carolyn Collins of Mount Airy and Jessie Melton of Richmond, Va. Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, George Martin; and one sister, Aileen Martin. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Cox-Needham Chapel at 11 a.m. with Bro. Don Collins officiating with interment to follow at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to all of her loving family and neighbors.
