Submissions to the Church Calendar need to be in writing and arrive or be brought in to The Mount Airy News office before 5 p.m. Tuesday in order to be published in Fridays issue. Benefits and Fundraisers
Wards Gap Church will be having a yard sale today and Saturday from 8 a.m. until. There will be homemade canned goods, ground steak and BBQ sandwiches. The yard sale will be held at the corner of Wards Gap and Epworth roads in Cana, Va. Proceeds go the Wards Gap Church.
Harvest Temple Church of God, 312 Newsome Road, King, will be sponsoring its third annual Fall Festival in the gym on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be crafts, food and vendors. If anyone is interested in buying a table or booth, call Tammy Sizemore at (336) 783-7475.
Westfield Friends Church, 3161 Old Westfield Road, will hold its bazaar on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be breakfast, crafts, produce, baked goods, canned goods, clothing, a yard sale, cookbooks, attic treasures and a quilt raffle. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new roof.
Highland Park Baptist Church WMU Harvest Sale will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be yard sale items, crafts, baked goods and breakfast with sausage, biscuits and gravy. Proceeds will go to missions.
Mount Zion United Methodist Church will have its annual bazaar on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church will have breakfast, lunch, yard sale items, country store, silent auction, crafts, baked goods and a drawing for a hand-made quilt. Faith Baptist Church will be having bingo on Saturday. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. Food will be available. Proceeds go to help local missions.
Fountain of Life Worship Center will have a church rummage sale on Saturday at 8 a.m. across from Neighbors on U.S. 52 in Mount Airy. Household items, decor, office supplies and clothes will be sold. There is a free gift with purchase. Breakfast will be available and there will be a car cleaning.
Blue Hollow Baptist Church will be having a fall bazaar on Saturday from 7 a.m. until. Baked good, canned foods ham biscuits and yard sale items will be sold. For more information, call Joey Love at 719-0200.
Friendly Tabernacle will be having a community yard sale and pancake breakfast Oct. 24 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All types of items will be sold. Breakfast will be sold in the fellowship hall. Two parking spaces are available for $25 and each additional space is $10. The deadline is Oct. 22. For more information or to reserve a space, call Kevin at 710-4372.
Amazing Grace Nondenominational Ministries, 446 W. Pine St., Mount Airy, will have its annual Harvest Celebration begin Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and ending Nov. 1. On Oct. 30, preaching will be lead by the Rev. Ervin Best, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Madison, accompanied by his choir. On Oct. 31, the Rev. Eric Helton of Friendship PPB Church in Ararat, Va., will preach, also accompanied by his choir. The Rev. Henry Banks of Ambassadors Cathedral in Winston-Salem, will render the message on Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. A feast and fellowship will follow the morning worship at 2:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., Elder Charlie Jenks, pastor of Miracle Temple Deliverance from Winston-Salem, will be preaching.
Mallalieu-Jones United Methodist Church, 231 N. South St., Mount Airy, will be holding a fish-fry fundraiser. The cost is $4 for a fish sandwich and a drink. This fundraiser will be held every Friday.
Special Services
The Community Church, 280 ONeal Road, Mount Airy, will be having its fall revival nightly at 7 p.m. today and Saturday. A special singing will be performed each night. For more information, call Bro. Ray Hutson at 374-5323.
Rockford Street United Methodist Church will hold homecoming on Sunday at 11 a.m. followed by dinner. Rich in Tradition will be performing during the meal.
Rocky Ford Christian Church, Fancy Gap Highway, Cana, Va., will be having Family and Friends Day on Sunday. A meal will follow in the fellowship hall after the service. Sunday school will start at 10 a.m., and the worship service will start at 11 a.m.
Flippin Memorial Baptist Church, 1422 McBride Road, will have a homecoming singing on Sunday at 6 p.m. Tina Smith will be performing.
Fellowship Baptist Church will be having its homecoming service at the Fisher River Park Ampitheater on Sunday. The service will start at 11 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or evening service. Following the service, there will be food and games. The goal this year is to have 2,000 in attendance.
New Life Baptist Church will be holding revival services Sunday through Wednesday starting at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Alton Bledsoe will be the guest speaker each evening.
Westfield Baptist Church will be holding its annual homecoming service at 11 a.m. on Sunday with a covered-dish luncheon following in the fellowship hall. Fall revival services will begin Sunday evening and continue each evening at 7 p.m. through Wednesday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Rickey Rogers.
Special Music
Zephyr Missionary Baptist Church, Poplar Spring Road, is having a special singing Sunday at 6 p.m. with the Moose Family and Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. with Country Tyme Baptist Youth Choir.
Salem United Methodist Church will be having dinner and a concert, featuring Bluegrace, Oct. 24. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. including country fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and dessert. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will go to the building fund.
The St. James Male Chorus from Charlotte will be performing at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Ararat Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
Zephyr Missionary Baptist Church will be having a special singing on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. The Union Hill Baptist Choir will be performing. For more information, contact Pastor J.T. Blevins.

The 107th annual session of Surry Baptist Association will be held at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church on Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. A meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Fellowship Baptist Church will be holding a Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 28 after the Wednesday evening service that begins at 7 p.m.
Piney Grove Baptist Church will be holding Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Miscellaneous
Liberty Baptist Church in Lowgap is taking donations to purchase pews. Anyone who has a loved one in the church cemetery or associated with the church can donate and have a small plaque placed on the pew. Funds will be accepted throughout the month of October. Grace Moravian Church will be holding Bible study each week on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. with Pastor Tony Hayworth.

The First Baptist Church Feeding Friends Soup Kitchen provides a free hot meal to families and friends in need every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is between Elm and Galloway streets at 714 N. Main St. Parking is available behind First Baptist off Arch Street. The feeding friends dinner is served in the fellowship hall in the building closest to downtown, with signs available to guide visitors.
A free soup kitchen is available on the last Thursday of each month in the Piney Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come as they are with no strings attached. The church is at 278 Piney Grove Road, which can be reached at 356-4196.
Food assistance for the hungry in the community is provided each Thursday at 8:30 a.m. by Trinity Episcopal Church.
Meetings for those healing from a broken marriage, each Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Genesis Full Gospel Church on Sparger Road. Everyone is invited, with more information available at 351-4718.
The Apostolic Ministerial Association is seeking new ministers of the Apostolic faith in order to encourage meetings with others that can help improve individual ministries. Those interested may call 789-1569 or 325-8081.
Mens interdenominational Bible study and prayer breakfast, 7 to 8 a.m. each Wednesday at Prime Sirloin Restaurant in Mount Airy. All interested men are invited.
GriefShare, a bi-weekly video seminar featuring experts on grief-recovery topics which is geared toward grieving persons or their supporters in a group-participation environment, is held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:15 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 314 S. Holy Angels Catholic Church weekly Evening Prayer Service, Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1208 N. Main St., Mount Airy. The service includes giving thanks for the gifts of the day and reflection; Evening Prayer hymns and psalms and Scripture readings; time for silent prayer and meditation; and prayers of intercession for the church, world and all those in need. Livingwater Baptist Church, 125 Starlight Road, Mount Airy, is launching a new ministry. The King James Bible RadioNetwork is being broadcast on WGIW 89.7 in Pilot Mountain. The station will be devoted to old time gospel preaching from the King James 1611 Bible and traditional gospel singing 24 hours a day.
