SEBRING, Fla. The dark clouds of sorrow and sadness stretch from the Sunshine State, all the way north of the Carolinas, only to rain tears of joy and happiness that Mimi has made the journey to meet her heavenly father. On Oct. 13, 2009, at the age of 85, Nora H. Whitaker passed away in Sebring, Fla. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Luther and Jenny Hollingsworth; her husband, John Ewell Scott; her brother, Ray Hollingsworth; and her sister, Leona Smith. Nora is survived by her son, Jimmie Ray Scott and wife Sarah of Claudville, Va.; her daughter, Amy Scott Broadaway and husband David of Sebring, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lauren Ivester, Leslie Scott, Whitney Broadaway, John Scott and Lena Cat Scott; and seven great-grandchildren. Nora Mimi was born in Westfield on March 16, 1924, She worked in retail service for over 15 years, then went on to become a nurses assistant and retired from being a caregiver at the age of 80. She was truly dedicated to her family, friends and church. She worked very hard all her life, enjoyed taking care of others and one of the things she did the best, cooking. Nora cherished all the children in ther families, as it was clearly embroidered on here wall, If mama says no, ask Mimi. Nora was also a dedicated Christian and a Breast Cancer Survivor. A memorial service will be held at Bannertown Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. A reception will be held following the memorial. Memorial contributions may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church.
