MOUNT AIRY Mr. Jimmy Calvin Bowman, 56, of 464 Snowhill Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Bowman was born July 3, 1952, in Pulaski, Va., to Calvin Junior Doc Bowman and the late Laura Sue Goodson Bowman. Jimmy was employed as a custodian and bus driver with Surry County Schools. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Pamela Lynn McCraw Bowman of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laura and Joey Melzark of Sebring, Fla., and Savannah Bowman of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Heather Bowman of Maiden; five grandchildren, Chloe Bowman, Calvin Bowman and Kennedy Bowman, all of Maiden, and Alex Melzark and Patricia Melzark, both of Sebring, Fla.; and his father, Calvin Junior Doc Bowman of Mount Airy. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 3, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Family Fellowship Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Shelton and the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donors choice.
