DOBSON A public hearing concerning the closure of Westview Drive is planned for 6 p.m. Monday night during the regular meeting of the Surry County Board of Commissioners.
The hearing is concerning a petition to close the road, however the residents of the road are opposed to the petition and want to keep it open. The 244 feet of road connects Westview Drive to White Pine Country Club Road.
Following the hearing Chris Knopf, assistant county manager for economic development and tourism, will discuss tourism incentive grants that have been recommended by the Tourism Development Authority.
County Manager Dennis Thompson is scheduled to discuss general county business at 6:30 p.m. The commissioners will bring topics of discussion to the table at 6:45 p.m.
At 7 p.m., a special recognition of Randy Lawson, Terry Warren and Pat Halsey from the board of health will be held.
A closed session for personnel is slated for 7:15 p.m.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Surry County Government Center, 118 Hamby Road.
