n Charges were filed against a Mount Airy man Saturday after he allegedly caused nearly $600 in damage to a pickup with his fist, according to the Mount Airy Police Department. It was reported about 4 p.m. that an allegedly intoxicated person had punched a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup owned by Hazel Gwyn Gardner of Allred Mill Road. Damage to a mirror estimated at $500 resulted, along with $80 in damage to an antenna, according to arrest records. Jimmie Wayne York Noisey, 28, of 123 Renea Lane, was charged later Saturday with damage to property stemming from the incident. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $500 secured bond and is facing a March 4 court appearance.
Justin Kent Hawks, 26, of 142 Indian Oak Trail in Lambsburg, Va., was cited for concealment of merchandise Friday after an incident at Kmart. Hawks allegedly concealed two music/video players valued at $100 and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Feb. 10.
Steve Corenellius Wareing, 32, of 117 Garbarley Trail, Cana, Va., was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with larceny and possession of stolen property on Nov. 24. Wareing was released under a $2,500 unsecured bond and is to be in court on Feb. 3.
Dorothy Mae Davis, a Summit Avenue resident, discovered Thursday that her wallet was either lost or stolen at Central Continuing Care on Newsome Street. It contained a credit card, Social Security card and drivers license, among other property.
A larceny was reported Wednesday at Food Lion on West Lebanon Street, where a white male removed Miller beer and Hot Pockets from the store without paying.
