Sales totaled 1,023 head, including cattle (966), goats (54) and sheep (13) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $46-$56.50; cutter and boning, $37.50-$59; canner and low cutter, $35-$43.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $57.50-$65.50; 1,500 pounds and up, $59-$77.
– Stock cows: 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $590-$840.
– Cow/calf pairs: $540-$800.
– Baby calves: $5-$40.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $100-$106, (small frame) $73-$94.50; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $87.50-$98.50; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $85-$94.25; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $80-$100.50; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $71-$77.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $87-$94, (small frame) $69-$86; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $87-$89.50, (small frame) $74-$87; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $83-$88, (small frame) $76-$84.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $80-$85.50; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $66-$74.
– Goats: kids, $17-$70; others, $15-$67; large billy, $42-$127.50.
