It was a rainy round for the North Surry and Surry Central golf teams Thursday at Mount Airy Country Club, but the Greyhounds proved to be weather proof, taking the top spot in the overall team competition with a score of 166.
Surry Central finished fourth with a 187, behind North, Ashe County (175) and Wilkes Central (176).

North coach Chuck Hiatt said he thinks his team can continue to stay among the conference leaders with consistent play.
After Thursdays play, the Greyhounds are currently one stroke up on second-place Wilkes Central with five conference matches remaining.
They are playing pretty good right now but it was tough for everybody today, Hiatt said. We are young and are playing pretty good and if continue to play well well be OK.
