PILOT MOUNTAIN The Pilot Mountain Civic Club (PMCC) has announced plans for the sixth annual Pilotfest celebration, with the two-day street festival scheduled for Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This will be the clubs third year in the role of sponsor for Pilot Mountains annual fall street festival, after taking over from previous hosts. The group also serves as host for the annual Mayfest Celebration, the towns long-held spring festival.
We use the same format as Mayfest, explained PMCC President Spencer Oberle, but this is on a smaller scale. But it is growing, and this year we should have 10 to 15 additional vendors along with some excellent entertainment.
Current projections are for some 50 to 60 vendors to fill the central downtown area of Main Street. Applications for craft vendors will continue to be accepted until Sept. 15. Applications, requirements and instructions for submission can be found at www.townofpilotmountain.com for both craft and food vendors. Use the documents link found on the homepage to access.
A full array of concessions along with childrens games and activities will be on Depot Street.
A bandstand will again be located in the town hall parking lot featuring a variety of primarily local entertainment during both afternoons and evenings. According to entertainment coordinator Benny Lisk, a variety of entertainment has been booked ranging from dance to bluegrass to rock.
Featured performers will include the Snow Creek Old Tyme Band, Cranford Creek Bluegrass, the Ultimate Dance Team, Randy & Ica, Donaha Station, NF52 and The Fenders. Friday evenings main concert will feature local bluegrass favorites, The Nunn Brothers.
This is our third and final fundraiser of the year, Oberle noted, and were excited about its potential. Weve been able to schedule away from some of the conflicting events that have been in the area in past years and we have high hopes for a great weekend.
