Sales totaled 690 head, including cattle (639) and goats (51) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $44-$49.50; cutter and boning, $45-$53.50; canner and low cutter, $36-$43.50.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $56-$62.50; 1,500 pounds and up, $56-$70.
– Stock cows: 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $450-$590.
– Cow/calf pairs: too few.
– Baby calves: $52.50-$67.50.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 200-300 pounds, (M1) $100-$109, (Holsteins) $65-$77; 300-400 pounds, (M1) $93-$113; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $85-$98.50, (small frame) $80-$92.50; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $82-$94.25, (small frame) $69-$86; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $82.50-$90.50; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $77.50-$90.75.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $90.75-$97; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $85-$93, (small frame) $70-$84; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $87.50-$91.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $82-$87.
– Goats: kids, $10-$75; others, $30-$50; large billy, $72-$135.
