Sales totaled 1,043 head, including cattle (1,009), goats (31) and sheep (three) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $44-$49.50; cutter and boning, $37-$58; canner and low cutter, $37-$42.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $55-$58.50; 1,500 pounds and up, $55.50-$63.
– Stock cows: too few.
– Cow/calf pairs: $630-$745.
– Baby calves: $15-$70.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 200-300 pounds, (small frame) $80-$97, (Holsteins) $58-$79.50; 300-400 pounds, (M1) $96-$112, (small frame) $70-$96, (Holsteins) $65-$71; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $90-$100, (small frame) $66-$94, (Holsteins) $55-$64; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $79-$94, (small frame) $70-$84, (Holsteins) $50-$67; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $73-$85, (small frame) $64.50-$79; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $70-$81, (small frame) $64-$79.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $77-$84, (small frame) $66-$79.50; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $77.50-$88, (small frame) $65-$79; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $75-$84, (small frame) $66-$78; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $71-$74.50, (small frame) $60-$70; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $60-$69.50.
– Goats: (kids) $27-$45, (large billy) $35-$120.
