DOBSON The Surry County Economic Development Partnership will be moving out of their location beside Surry Community College as of this Friday and into their new location at 118 Hamby Road, Suite 146.
The Partnership was located in a converted house at 614 S. Main St. that belongs to Surry Community College. They were supposed to move out of the location July of 2008 because the college was slated to build the North Carolina Center for Viticulture and Enology in that location.
Robin Rhyne, the president of the EDP, said those plans had changed, but they thought they had until the end of January before they had to move their office.
Weve known for a while that we were going to need to move, this just can a little faster that, Rhyne said.
The phone number for the EDP will remain the same and the service should switch from the old location to the new location over the weekend. Rhyne said there said there shouldnt be any interruption in service.
Marion Venable, director of the SCC foundation, said that a couple from Boonville is interested in purchasing and moving the home down U.S. 601.
They are not 100-percent sure right now. We sure know more by the middle of next week if they will be able to move the house, Venable said.
Advertising for contractors to build the Viticulture Center will start on Jan. 26. Submitted bids will be opened on Feb. 24. Construction should begin shortly thereafter.
