MOUNT AIRY Mrs. Virginia Alice Gardner, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Mrs. Gardner was born on Jan. 4, 1915, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Charles and Mary Martin Morrison. Mrs. Gardner retired from Blue Bell Industries in Greensboro, was a homemaker and was a member of Grace Moravian Church. She is survived by a sister, Sue Irene Nelson of Mount Airy; three special nieces and a spouse, Mickey Murib of Winston-Salem and Nelda Thomas and Mary Jenkins and husband David, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ed Gardner; a sister, Ethel Johnson; and three brothers, Tom, Pete and Monk Morrison. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 5, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home and other times at the home of David and Mary Jenkins, 1542 Forest Drive, Mount Airy. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Workman, Dr. Motew, Dr. Kimball and the nurses in ICU and Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for their care and compassion.
