HIGH POINT Mrs. Irene Gammons Marshall, 77, of High Point, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Hospice Home at High Point. Born Dec. 22, 1931, in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Joseph and Velva Bell Johnson Gammons. On Jan. 25, 1947, she was married to Posey Edward Marshall, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1998. Together, they owned and operated Marshalls Finishing Company. Survivors include three sons, Clarence Marshall and wife, Janice, of High Point, Donald Marshall and wife, Dawn, of High Point and Roger Marshall and wife, Lindy, of Wilmington; two daughters, Patsy Weavil and husband, Robert, of Kernersville and Janet Dailey and husband, Larry, of Archdale; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Angel Marshall, Brandon and Anna Marshall, Darrell and Katrina Marshall, Teresa and Daniel Thompson, Kathy and Bobby Thornton, Melissa and Robert Lewis, Mark and Jessica Dailey and Steven and Natalie Dailey; six great-grandchildren, Gracie, Christine, Addison, Chase, James and Lilly; and two sisters, Marie Chamberlain and Stacy Dupree, both of Mount Airy. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale officiated by the Rev. Scott Newton. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
