Pride lose, but still No. 7 seed in playoffs

PILOT MOUNTAIN The Surry Pride Senior American Legion team lost its final regular season game of the season, 14-3, to Randolph County Saturday. No matter the loss, the Pride are locked into the seventh seed of the playoffs after finishing with a North Division record of 8-10.
Due to previous rainouts, some teams did not complete their seasons as of last night, so the Pride will not know their July 4 playoff opponent until Monday at the earliest.
Last night, things looked good for the Pride early, as it built a 2-0 lead by the bottom of the first. Shane Johnson led off the Surry half of the first with a triple. He would go on to score after Casey Felts stole second, drawing a throw from the Randolph catcher.
However, errors by the Pride and solid hitting from their opponent led to a four-run inning for Randolph to start up the second inning and it never looked back.
While Surry holds the No. 7 seed, West Forsyth will be No. 1 and Kernersville eighth. Other seeds have yet to be determined. Thomasville and Montgomery County will not make the playoffs.
