MOUNT AIRY Mr. Joseph Allen Harris, 73, of 340 Marion St., Mount Airy, went home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born Aug. 24, 1935, in Bradley County, Tenn., to the late Hubert Samuel and Bertha Carter Harris. Mr. Harris was a retired Detroit police officer and a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife, Anita Rucker Harris of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Jonita and husband Arthur Juhala of Hazel Park, Mich., and Lydia and husband Paul Eversole of Big Rapids, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and wife Sheri Harris of Mount Airy; grandchildren, John and wife Ann Juhala, Christopher Juhala, David and wife Ashley Juhala, Chester Juhala, Kenneth Tompkins, Bryan Tompkins, Bethany and husband Tom Dekorne, Hannah Harris and Rebekah Harris; great-grandchildren, Emma and Max Juhala; and sisters and brother-in-law, Sarah Ann Todd of Michigan and Huberta and husband Oren Wall of Michigan. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church of Mount Airy at 1536 W. Devon Drive, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
