Sales totaled 840 head, including cattle (736), goats (98) and sheep (6) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $45.50-$51.50; cutter and boning, $41.50-$51.50; canner and low cutter, $36-$42.50.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $56.50-$60; 1,500 pounds and up, $58.50-$65.
– Stock cows: 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $545-$730.
– Cow/calf pairs: $550-$790.
– Baby calves: $17.50-$52.50.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 200-300 pounds, (Holsteins) $59.50-$69; 300-400 pounds, (M1) $97-$110, (small frame) $84-$95, (Holsteins) $69; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $90-$113, (small frame) $78-$90, (Holsteins) $58-$60; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $85.50-$106, (small frame) $73.50-$87; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $83-$101, (small frame) $64-$83; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $74-$89.50.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $86-$89, (small frame) $75-$85; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $89.25-$92.75, (small frame) $64-$85; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $89.25-$92.90, (small frame) $79-$85.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $83-$89.75; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $82.50-$84.75.- Goats: kids, $12.50-$45; others, $20-$65; large billy, $30-$40.
