The Surry Runnin Patriots lost a heartbreaker to Roanoke Home Educators last night.
Surry (15-9, 6-3 North Carolina Home Educators Conference) entered the fourth quarter with a three-point lead, but Roanoke outscored the Runnin Patriots 25-11 in the final frame. The reason, according to Surry coach Lin Hamilton, was too many offensive rebounds for the visitors.
They were killing us on the boards, Hamilton said. They got 10 offensive rebounds (in the fourth quarter) and ended up scoring on seven of those.
The Runnin Patriots were paced by Luke Hamilton, who scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Daniel Sheaffer (23 points, seven steals) and Aaron Gibbons (eight rebounds) also played well.
Surry returns to action tonight, when it travels to Kannapolis-based Cabarrus.
