SHOALSMrs. Maxie Bullington Dezern, 88, of Shoals widow of Mr. Joseph Franklin Dezern, passed away Saturday evening at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born July 12, 1921, in Surry County to the late Walter and Loretta Lankford Bullington. She was a homemaker and a member of Pinnacle View Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Dezern Brown and Eddie of Shoals, a granddaughter and husband, Lorrie Brown Sawyers and Greg, Shoals, a grandson and wife, Kevin Edward Brown and Patty, Shoals, four great grandchildren, Jacob Kinzer Sawyers, Joshua Thomas Sawyers, Emma Marie Brown and Luke Edward Brown all of Shoals. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dezern was preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Pinnacle View Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin, the Rev. Joseph Alexander and Mr. Kevin Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Pinnacle View Baptist Church.
