GERMANTON Mrs. Dora Imogene Hawks Brown, 93, of Germanton, widow of the late Hubert Franklin Brown, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Brown was born in Grayson County, Va., on July 4, 1916, to the late Lawrence and Nellie Virginia ONeal Beck Hawks. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a poultry farmer, having been one of the largest egg producers in Surry County until her retirement. Imogene was member of Friends Union Church. Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Randy Bullins of Germanton and Barbie Holt of Stoneville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lila Brown of Rural Hall and Ronald and Carolyn Brown and Roland Brown, both of Pinnacle; 10 grandchildren, Darlene King, Perry Jones, Wanda Tilley, Larry Brown, Randy Brown, Donna Ann Cheek, Shon Patrick Carter, Junior Franklin Snider, Kenneth Wayne Carter and Angela Lynn Snider; 16 great-grandchildren, Jamie King, Michelle Mabe, Kevin King, Joey Mabe, Niki Tilley, Krista Brown, Jessica Brown, Brittney Brown, Leah Amburn, Ashley Nichole Cheek, Michael Carter, Mason Carter, Shon Lee Carter, Paul Carter, Trissity Carter and Javen Carter; three great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Mabe, Christopher Mabe and Drake Mabe; one half sister and husband, Mary Ruth and John Arnder of Mount Airy; and one half brother and sister-in-law, Dock and Hattie Beck of Siloam. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one granddaughter, Karen Brown Amburn; one brother, Roby Hawks; two sisters, Elva and Edna Sawyers; one half sister, Etta Arnder; and two half brothers, Edison and Claude Beck. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Huffman and the Rev. Danny Hall officiating with interment to follow in the Friends Union Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
