GREENSBORO Mrs. Eva Kidd Chappell, 83, died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Westminster Gardens. Mrs. Chappell was born Oct. 1, 1925 in Dobson to the late Thomas J. and Bertie Brintle Kidd. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to all, she started her life by attending school and never missed a day. Eva also had a child in school for 46 consecutive years. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting and attending her childrens athletic events, never missing a game. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eugene Chappell; two grandchildren, Charles Thomas Chappell and Mary Elizabeth Dye; two sisters, Rachel Kidd Atkins and Minnie Kidd Collins; and four brothers, Wayne Kidd, Glenn Kidd, Floyd Kidd and Elmer Kidd. She is survived by her children, Steve Chappell Sr. (Clara) of Ruffin, Susan C. Worrell (Raymond) of Ennice, Sarah C. Jessup (Mike) of Summerfield and Forrest Swanson Chappell (Carolyn), Sherry L. Chappell (Yvonne) and Dr. Stacey J. Chappell, all of Greensboro; brother, Claude Swanson Kidd (Esther) of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Steve Chappell Jr. (Joy), Kris Chappell, Amy Chappell, John Thomas Binh Chappell and Lucius Jefferson Chappell; three great-grandchildren, Charley Grace Chappell, Tate Elizabeth Chappell and Kristen Diane Chappell; more than 20 nieces and nephews; and more than 40 great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
