DOBSON The Surry County Board of Education has named Molly Anderson the new principal at Flat Rock Elementary School.
Anderson replaces Diane Beane, who was recently named principal at East Surry High School. Anderson will begin her official duties as principal on Dec. 19. Beane is replacing Tony Hall, who will move to another school system to become an assistant superintendent.
We are extremely pleased to announce Mrs. Molly Anderson as principal at Flat Rock Elementary. She has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in previous positions, and we look forward to working with her in the principalship capacity, said Dr. Ashley Hinson, superintendent.
Anderson began her career in the Surry County School System in 2002. She was a classroom teacher at Franklin Elementary School for four years and then served as assistant principal at Franklin for three and a half years. Anderson graduated from Appalachian State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 2002. She received a masters degree in school administration in 2006 also from Appalachian State University.
Anderson and her husband, Michael, reside in the Pilot Mountain community with their daughter, Emory.
I am excited to begin working with the fine students, parents and staff of Flat Rock Elementary. I look forward to becoming part of the Flat Rock family, said Anderson.
