Sales totaled 671 head, including cattle (674), goats (48) and sheep (19) during Tuesdays sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
– Slaughter cows: breakers, utility and commercial, $41-$49; cutter and boning, $38.50-$49; canner and low cutter, $36-$41.
– Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $55-$59; 1,500 pounds and up, $55-$65.
– Stock cows: 1,050 pounds and up, (M1 & M2) $430-$750.
– Cow/calf pairs: too few.
– Baby calves: $25-$52.50.
– Feeder steers and bulls: 200-300 pounds, (Holsteins) $57-$65; 300-400 pounds, (M1) $94-$118, (small frame) $76-$85; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $84-$99.75, (small frame) $66-$86; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $77-$89.25, (small frame) $70-$80; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $70-$86.25; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $63-$70.
– Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $80-$85; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $75-$79.25, (small frame) $64-$74; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $73.25-$76, (small frame) $64-$72.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $70-$73, (small frame) $66-$70.
– Goats: kids, $17.50-$60; others, $37-$72.
