Calling all actors and musicians who want to be part of a cable TV show called Blank Surfaces, which will be filming in Mount Airy. Those interested in a three-minute audition should report to Video Works on Franklin Street between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday.
Producer Lance Britt said the show Blank Surfaces is going into its sixth year of production. The star of the show, Todd Johnson, will be screening potential actors and musicians Thursday.
Johnson will be playing the supposed cousin of Barney Fife, who comes to town from California.
Johnson, who has family living in Sparta, entered the television world on shows such as Ally McBeal and The Practice. He had his initial small break into feature films with 13 Days starring Kevin Costner. This was followed by another small film break in the film Moonlight Mile with Dustin Hoffman. His first real film was a major supporting role in Living the Dream starring Sean Young and this was quickly followed by a starring role Behaving Badly starring Sylvia Suvadova.
Britt said he is hopeful about finding great talent in Mount Airy.
Catherine Sewell will be the North Carolina Host for Blank Surfaces.
We have worked with this most talented and diverse actor for over a decade and she keeps on getting better all the time. She is the host of Live at Nine and an on-camera personality for a variety of our entertaining and informative programs, Britt said.
In addition to the casting call, a wrap party will be held at 308 Bistro Thursday starting at 6 p.m. where locals are invited to meet the cast and crew of the show. Live music and entertainment will be provided.
