DOBSON Award-winning author and North Carolina native Robert Morgan will speak at Surry Community College in the library on the second floor of R Building, on Feb. 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Morgan is the author of Boone: A Biography, as well as novels, short stories and poetry. Copies of Boone will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free to the public. This event is part of Surry Community Colleges Cultural Event Series.
Morgans biography of Daniel Boone, his most recent work, has been highly acclaimed:
The flesh-and-blood Boone who emerges is vivid and rare, a far cry from the enigmatic icon. This is historical biography at its best. St. Louis Dispatch.
The thoroughness and authority of Boone are beyond dispute. Though there have been many biographies of Boone … this one strikes me as ideally suited to todays reader with its vivid descriptive passages (Morgan is, after all, a novelist and poet), its persuasive portrait of Boone and its firm sense of his place in American history. Jonathan Yardley, The Washington Post Book World.
