DOBSON Surry Community College student-athletes are taking part in a food drive to benefit the hungry.
The teams will collect non-perishable food items at the annual Dobson Christmas Parade held on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m.
The food drive, titled Cans from Fans will continue in the campus gym through Friday, Dec. 11.
All food collected will be donated to needy families as part of the Surry County Sheriffs Departments Christmas food drive held on Saturday, Dec. 12.
For the second consecutive year the Surry student-athletes will partner with the Sheriffs Department to assist families in need by delivering food throughout the community.
These are difficult times for many families, and our community needs our help more than ever, Surry athletic director Mark Tucker said.
Food pantry shelves continue to run low on supplies, and donations are greatly appreciated. We hope to see everyone at the Dobson Christmas Parade, and remember to bring your canned food items. For more information on the food drive, contact 386-3217.
