MOUNT AIRY Mrs. Florence Hazel Inman Norman, 92, of Mount Airy, widow of the late Kenneth Dale Norman, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on Jan. 5, 1916, to the late Luther and Lillie Cook Inman. Mrs. Norman worked and retired from Spencers Inc. and a member of Woodville Baptist Church. She is survived by one sister, Jean Kirby of Lakeland, Fla.; two nieces, Regina and Ray Webb of Mount Airy and Darlene and P.M. Shoffner of Pilot Mountain; three nephews, D.L. Norman and Mike Norman, both of Mount Airy, and Reggie and Willa Norman of Jacksonville, Fla.; three great-nieces, Vavina Lapham, Hannah Webb and Julie Taylor; five great-nephews, Ken Norman, Nathan Webb, Ben Webb, Timothy Webb and Stan Shoffner; and two special friends, Steve and Maxine Sanders. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Thurmond Sears; second husband, Dale Norman; and two sisters, Sybil Whitman and Ann Hauser. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Woodville Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Love and Mr. Ben Webb conducting the service with interment to follow in the Inman Family Cemetery. The family received family and friends at Woodville Baptist Church Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Inman Family Cemetery, c/o Atha Collins, 5615 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Dodd and the caregivers at Northern Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit for their love and care and to all the employees and volunteers that she loved so much. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Norman family.
