Granite Bears tennis rolls again

Mount Airy made quick work of Elkin Tuesday, defeating the Buckin Elks 9-0 in a Northwest 1-A tennis matchup.
In singles play, Mount Airys Nick John easily defeated Charlie Neavs 6-0, 6-0, while Matt Cassler also picked up a quick victory for the Bears by defeating Andrew Reece 6-0, 6-1.
Mount Airy Coach Frank Mayberry said the matches that stood out to him were those of John and Cassler.
Nick and Matt played well today and it set the tone for the entire match for us, Mayberry said.
In doubles play, the team of Chance Hall and Eric Belton picked a narrow 9-7 win over Andrew Reece and Schon Reece of Elkin, in what proved to be the closest match of the day.
With the win, Mount Airy improves to 6-2 overall, and 6-0 in the Northwest 1-A.
