Wii Wednesdays have sign-ups to play beginning at 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday. In order to play the Wii games, players will have to have a library card in good standing.

Game Night continues on Thursday nights, beginning at 6 p.m. The library provides cards and board games for those who would like to play. Come join the fun!

Join us for Book Chats. Book Chats is an informal book club, where we gather to discuss books that everyone is currently reading. These discussions are open to the public, and are free of charge. Beginning January we will now have only one meeting time each month, which will be the daytime meeting on the fourth Monday each month, at 1 p.m. Join us for our daytime meeting on Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. Our last evening meeting will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you!

Join our movie-based book club, picture books. Each month we’ll each read a book that was adapted into a movie. Then we gather together to watch the movie, and afterwards compare the two. The book and movie for January is SeaBiscuit. Well watch the movie on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. Come by the library to pick up your copy of the book. The book club books are provided by the library, and the movie is free of charge. Open for ages teen to adult.

In January the Community Book Club will resume meeting on the fourth Thursday night each month. Join us on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.

Thanks to those who participated in our Gingerbread House contest. The winner was Miss Lindsey Gravley! She was given her $50 Wal-Mart gift card during our Christmas Storytelling event on Dec. 22. Congratulations Lindsey!

The library will close early on New Years Eve at 5 p.m., and will be closed New Years Day. Happy New Year to our community!

The library will be holding another Creative Writing Class on Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. The class is free to teens and adults, and participants are to bring only paper, a pencil, and their imagination! The class is taught by SCC instructor Sarah Wright.

The Northwestern Regional Library system is proud to sponsor Quiz Bowl for area high schools. Quiz Bowl will be held at the Andy Griffith Playhouse on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. Come out to support your school.

The library will be having Science Thursdays again this January. Every Thursday afternoon in January, at 3:30 p.m., we invite elementary school-age budding scientists to come to these after school programs. These programs are free!

Looking for a last minute tax deduction? Make a donation to the library! All donations, both in funds and books, are tax-deductible, and are greatly appreciated. Donations are used to help fund library programs, like Science Thursdays, throughout the year.

Preschool Story Hours happen weekly. Library assistant Jenny Wright leads the Wednesday story times, with the two-year olds at 9:30 a.m., and the three-year olds at 10:30 a.m. Assistant Librarian Tommie Smith leads the Thursday story times, with 4- and 5-year-olds at 10:30 a.m. These events are free, and open to the public. Come join us!
