SILOAM Patty Riddle Bowman of Siloam died Monday morning, June 8, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a long illness. She was born on Jan. 25, 1935, in Surry County to Elbert and Lottie Chilton Riddle. She was a retired farmer and homemaker as well as a skilled crafter and Sunday school teacher for over 20 years at Double Creek Church of Christ. Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Nelson Bowman; her parents; her brother, Bobby Riddle; and her beloved granddaughter, Sara Williams. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry Williams of Siloam; as well as a sister, Mary Jane Riddle of Ararat; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Riddle of Ararat; one sister-in-law, Rachel Riddle of Dobson; also her husbands brother and sister-in-law, Radford and Ethel Bowman of Siloam; she leaves six nieces and nephews, Sharon Hewitt, Stan Riddle, Steve Brown, Christa Riddle, Laura Riddle and Steve Bowman; six grandnieces and nephews; and six great-grandnieces and nephews. She also had many wonderful friends and neighbors. The funeral will be held at Double Creek Church of Christ, 674 Double Creek Road, Dobson, on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. Pastor Roger Sickmiller will officiate. She will rest beside her husband and granddaughter, Sara, in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. Her daughter and son-in-law would like to thank all the friends and neighbors who have been there to help their mother through the last year as well as the nurses and staff of ICU 4C at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for their kindness and compassion as she began her journey home. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Bowman family.
