DOBSON The Surry County Sheriffs Office is on the lookout for a woman who allegedly took property from homes she was cleaning.
On July 31, the Surry County Sheriffs Office issued warrants for Donna McMillian Smith, 42, of 16215 Fancy Gap Road, Cana, Va.
Smith is charged with two counts of felony larceny and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
The charges against Smith resulted from the investigation of four separate reported thefts from homes where Smith was employed as a house cleaner.
The thefts occurred between May 14 and July 17. The stolen items consisted mainly of jewelry, old coins and cash.
Smith may still be employed as a housekeeper somewhere in the area.
If you have been a victim, dont be afraid to report it, said Sheriff Graham Atkinson. We just wanted to make people aware that if shes still out there cleaning homes, that they should be aware of this situation.
Some of the property has been recovered in Hillsville, Va.
The sheriff said if anyone has any information as to Smiths whereabouts or think they may have been a victim of Donna McMillian Smith, contact the Surry County Sheriffs at 401-8900.
