Changes in Mount Airys sanitation schedules have been announced in connection with the Fourth of July.
While residential and commercial routes will be collected on a normal schedule Friday, the day before the holiday, no commercial cardboard pickups will occur then. The next cardboard collection is set for July 10.
Fridays schedule also will include no industrial/roll-off collection.
Municipal governmental offices will be closed Friday for the holiday and are to reopen Monday.
Two city government-related meetings that normally would be held this week also have been canceled.
Included is the Mount Airy Board of Commissioners regular first-Thursday meeting. The boards next regular meeting is scheduled for July 16, when officials are expected to consider rezoning and other matters.
Also, the City/County Liaison Committee a group of Mount Airy and Surry County representatives who discuss joint projects in meetings held on the first Thursday morning of the month will not gather this week.
