DOBSON The Dobson town board on Monday voted to contract with All American Associates for accounting services, contingent on the towns attorney, Hugh Campbell, approving the contract.
That vote came after an hour-and-a-half behind closed doors Monday morning, which in turn was a result of a continuation of a Thursday night meeting, during which the board spent more than two hours in closed session.
If Campbell approves the accounting contract, it will become effective on today.
Mayor Ricky Draughn said Monday that the town has been operating without town manager Lynn Burcham, since she was placed on administrative leave at the end of May amid allegations that town money had been mishandled. He said the towns clerk, who was in charge of accounting services, resigned in the middle of May.
Consultant Paul Hensch, an employee of All American Associates, is under contract with the town, filling in while Burcham is on leave.
Mayor Ricky Draughn said not much has changed since May.
Everything is still the same. There has been no change. The manager is still on paid leave. Weve been without a town manager since May 28 and the clerk resigned a few weeks before that, Draughn said.
The board also voted to hold its next meeting on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
