PINNACLE Mr. Ray Oliver Mickey, 81, of Pinnacle, passed away on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at his home. Mr. Mickey was born in Surry County near Pinnacle on July 6, 1928, to the late Elbert Samuel and Augusta Combs Mickey. Mr. Mickey was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and formerly a member of Hiatt Memorial United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country both in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Ray married Mary Ruth Whitaker of the Copeland area in 1951. Preceding Ray in death were his parents; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alleen M. and Marvin Needham, Helen M. and W.J. Thomas and Frank Mayberry; and two infant siblings. Ray is survived by wife, Mary; sister, Nell M. Mayberry; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. George Burton, the Rev. Arthur Livengood and Hospice Chaplin Todd Byrd officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
